Gateway with Asia and the capital of the Northern Territory, Australia
Darwin, on the northern tip of the Northern Territory, is the closest Australian capital city to Asia, providing the shortest air and sea transport routes for trade between the Asian and Australian economies. Singapore and Manila are as close in proximity as the southern capitals of Sydney and Melbourne.
Darwin is also perfectly placed to cater to the tourism market in these areas, providing a gateway to northern Australia via its Deep Water Port and International Airport. The “Top End” is a destination well known for its WWII heritage, rich cultural experiences and natural attractions such as World-heritage listed Kakadu National Park and Nitmiluk (Katherine Gorge) National Park. Nearly 70 International Airports put approximately half a billion people within four hours flying time into Darwin.
